Secrets Declassified Mission

Based on President Obama's Transparency objective the Air Force Declassification Office is identifying the location boxes of historically significant documents which we have declassified and are located at the National Archives and other sites. According to historians and other researchers, the following categories of information have been judged "significant" to Air Force history. The purpose of the Secrets Declassified Web Site is to identify as many records as possible that fall into these categories in an effort to capture more thoroughly the full history of the U.S. Air Force. The records captured can be unclassified or declassified.

Af Declassification Office

The Secretary of the Air Force Declassification Office (SAF/AFDO) is responsible for the declassification and safeguarding of classified permanent historical National Security Information (NSI) Air Force documents. AFDO serves as the Air Force focal point for inter-agency coordination within the Federal Government of all Air Force declassification issues and is lead agent for inter-agency and inter-service declassification working groups.

Argentina Declassification Project

The Argentina declassification project is a historic effort by U.S. Government agencies and departments to search, identify, review for public access, and provide records that shed light on human rights abuses in Argentina between 1975 and 1984. As part of an additional effort – requested by Argentine President Mauricio Macri and human rights groups – the Air Force Declassification Office has released six new documents

CYCLE WINDOW FOR EQUAL OSR/CMM IS OPEN The CONUS to CONUS Assignment program has expanded for the April 2019 assignment cycle to include eligible First-Term Airmen and Security Forces Airmen. From April 16 – 26, these Airmen may now request an assignment between CONUS locations, provided they are otherwise eligible: • First-Term Airmen who have a Career Job Reservation and have been selected for reenlistment • Career Airmen who have at least 48 months’ time on station as of August 2019 • Airmen in the Security Forces career field (3P) AFPC sent targeted messages to all eligible Airmen that included cutoff dates and links for application submission. CONUS assignment requests will be considered in the following priority order: Overseas Returnees-OSR, CONUS Mandatory Movers-CMM and then CONUS volunteers. These programmatic changes do not include nor affect any other assignment programs at this time, nor will they impact Battlefield Airman (now Special Warfare Airmen) or Enlisted Aircrew. Additionally, Airmen eligible to apply for the CONUS assignment program should continue to use the virtual Military Personnel Flight assignment preference application.
